The Brazil-Peru Cultural Center (CCBP), founded in 1962, was the first cultural institution under the supervision of the Ministry of External Relations. The CCBP offers regular Brazilian Portuguese and Brazilian culture courses which are sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of External Relations, the Home Office, and the Peruvian National Police Department, to more than 900 students every semester.  Additionally, there are workshops about oral and written production, literature, singing, dance, Phonetics and Grammar.

The cultural projects include seminars, exhibitions and musical presentations. The CCBP has a library (Biblioteca Vinícius de Moraes) with the most comprehensive number of titles related to the Brazilian literature in Peru. The Center also conducts an important work in the area of translation of poetry and unpublished fiction of Brazilian authors. The teachers´ qualification is an issue of constant attention in the CCBP planning of activities. That is why the Center is considered a national reference as far as the teaching of Brazilian Portuguese language and culture is concerned. In addition, the CCBP is working hard to be also considered a reference in the training of Portuguese language teachers in Peru.
